Man shoots, kills step-mom; turns gun on himself | Crime

DALEVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Daleville Police Officers are on the scene of a shooting & attempted suicide at this hour where a man is said to have fatally shot his step-mother before turning the gun on himself.

WSFA 12 News has a reporter on the scene working to gather additional details.

The Dale County Coroner is currently on the scene, a mobile home located on Holman Bridge Road.

Investigators say Thomas Michael Presley, 22, walked into his step-mother's home where he then shot her. The victim, identified as Loretta Leah Presley, 44, was found a bedroom. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities say the suspect then turned the gun on himself.

Presley, wounded, is said to have walked across the street where he passed out on the front porch of a neighbor's home. The neighbor called 911, and medical personnel quickly responded to the scene.

Presley was transported to a Dothan hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, the severity of which is unknown.

 A motive for the shooting is not currently known. WSFA 12 News will have additional details as they become available.
