Fort Rucker, Alabama (May 23, 2013)Our Family for Families First, a private, charitable foundation committed to supporting military families in the pursuit of higher education, has awarded 10 $50,000 college scholarships to outstanding high school students, marking the eighth class of Our Future scholarship recipients. Since its founding in 2006 by Corvias Group CEO John Picerne, the Foundation has awarded more than $4.5 million in scholarships to the families of active-duty service members.

Wallace honors spring 2013 nursing students in Pinning Ceremony

Dothan, Ala.—Wallace Community College recently conferred credentials upon spring 2013 graduates of the associate degree and practical nursing programs at the Dothan Civic Center. The graduates will help fill employment gaps in the local health-care workforce.

Since the first graduating class in 1953, the practical nursing program has produced 3,612 graduates. The associate degree program has graduated 3,639 nurses since the initial 1971 class.

Wallace continues to enroll large numbers of prospective allied health and nursing students each semester. More than 42% of the College’s total student enrollment is registered in health sciences or pre-health sciences courses. The nursing programs are approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing and are fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). The next NLNAC review will be in 2015 for ADN and 2016 for PN.

Enterprise man arrested on multiple counts after single vehicle accident

 

On May 16, 2013, the Enterprise Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Boll Weevil Circle and Lee Street.  Citizens at the scene of the accident flagged down an off duty officer to stop.  The officer made contact with the subject who attempted to flee the scene.  Joseph Isaac Speigner,56, of Enterprise, AL was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, and Driving Under the Influence.  Speigner was transported to the Coffee County Jail after arrest.  The Enterprise Police Department would like to thank the citizens who stopped to assist the officers on scene.

On May 6, 2013, members of the Enterprise Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 200 Glenwood Lane Apt. 4 Enterprise, AL.  Marijuana, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia were seized during the raid.  Michael Antonio Reynolds, 35, of Enterprise, AL and Shantoria Vonsha Groce, 24, of Enterprise, AL were both arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 1st, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Reynolds and Groce were transported to the Coffee County Jail after arrest.

Enterprise Police Department narcotic’s investigators recovered a quantity of methamphetamine, several guns, video surveillance equipment, and paraphernalia for the use and/or sell of illicit drugs when they executed a search warrant at 407 East Hickory Bend.

Materials recovered in the search warrant included approximately 32 grams of finished methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, an assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a 9mm Glock handgun, a .22 rifle, four infrared-capable cameras, monitor and recorder, and a digital scale.

Arrested during the service of the search warrant were Scott William Teeter, a 31 year-old white male and Jason Barnes, a 26 year-old white male.
